Some of you may know, but I moved my blog here at the start of January 2012. I have been blogging on food over at HELLO! Magazine.com since 2010. If you haven’t seen my blog there, it’s Free From Kitchen, which focuses on allergy friendly food and news from the industry.
After a while though, I found that I was working in so many different areas in food, what with running my food company, Go Free Foods (some of you will know me on Twitter as @gofreecakes), blogging, and general food writing, I wanted to bring everything together with another blog, about what I have been up to. I was using Blogger, but decided to change, so here I am. This blog does exactly what it says on the tin: it charts what is going on in my kitchen (and sometimes out of it). I have a very nice camera, but I’m not a talented photographer. But what I really want to do is to create a record of what I’m doing and what I am cooking, so I just take photos of dishes in situ – in the kitchen or on the table. These aren’t the most accomplished photos, but they do show what I’m really up to. With running around trying to do too many things at once anyway, I don’t have time for food styling. It’s just not me.
Why freefrom? Well back in the day when my boyfriend and I were freshers at University (nearly 10 years ago now), he got ill and developed numerous food allergies. We’d never had any restrictions on what either of us could eat before, so it was a steep learning curve adjusting to a restricted diet. But being having always been a keen cook, I managed to come up with some nice things he could eat, which were such a hit, we started to sell them. This is now my business, Go Free Foods which is an award winning freefrom food company. We are growing pretty much week by week at the moment. We make delicious hand made cakes (and a new product range coming very soon), and sell them to customers, shops and delis all over the U.K.
What makes us particularly special, is that I don’t have any food intolerances, which enables us to benchmark our products against the best on the market. We don’t want freefrom to be a compromise.
This blog, however, contains a whole host of recipes. It’s what I like to cook at home. I haven’t transferred the content from my old blog though – I’m starting afresh over here. Please do spread the word if you like what you see. I hope to build an informative blog over the coming weeks and months.
Thanks for stopping by,
