Welcome to my website. I’m Charlotte, an award-winning food writer, chef and cookery teacher.
Author of five cookbooks, I trained as a chef at the world-famous Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland. I currently split my time between writing, cooking and teaching.
My teaching takes place at my own pop-up cookery school, Field & Fork School, and at a number of top schools around the UK and internationally. Sometimes, people book me to teach private classes for their business or in their own home. I regularly carry out chef demonstrations at top food festivals nationwide, and occasionally abroad.
As a trained chef who writes about food, my recipes are much loved for their ease and reliability. It makes me so happy to hear that my favourite recipes have become your family favourites, too.
Most of my recipes are simple, seasonal and uncomplicated, to enjoy every day at home. Living in rural England I have a deep appreciation for the ever changing ingredients I find on my doorstep throughout the year, and I take great interest in the growing, picking, butchering and harvesting involved in getting ingredients to the kitchen, as well as cooking and enjoying good food. I am in the process of setting up a kitchen garden in my new home in Wiltshire, and am enjoying my first harvests of fruit and herbs. Aside from these pages, my writing is mostly found in my recipe books, but I occasionally write for other publications and broadcast on the radio, most recently including The Guardian, The Telegraph, delicious Magazine and BBC Radio 4. I am Chair of the Guild of Food Writers.
I am a Slow Food UK Chef Alliance member, and I run Charlotte’s Kitchen, my private cooking and catering company, which caters for all manner of occasions, and with probably one of the most exclusive client lists in the business. I am fortunate to have many happy clients, and almost all of my business comes from recommendations, so I don’t advertise, but more details, including the wonderful feedback from my clients, can be found here.
I set up this site to share some of my home cooking recipes with you, alongside news of that I’m up to. I want to share my passion for good, seasonal, uncomplicated home cooking using the very best ingredients available, making delicious, nourishing, seasonally influenced dishes to enjoy every day at home, often with something special on the table at weekends, or to share with friends.
I travel extensively, so you’ll find my Foodie Guides to cities and regions here, which feature my favourite places to visit and top recommendations for what to eat, see and do.
Before changing career to work in food full-time, I worked at two large American financial institutions, a world-renowned auction house and a national carrier airline, working in London, Paris and Madrid. Before that, I read French and Spanish at Exeter University.
I now live in East Dorset and North Wiltshire.
