I’m in the middle of a very, very big project at the moment. I’m writing three full-size cookery books at once. Well, I say I am in the middle of the project, but technically I am not quite at the half way point yet, but I’m getting there. Last week, I delivered the first of the three manuscripts to the publisher. A mere 33000 words and counting. There are another two to go, and I will be away a fair bit over the coming weeks and months on the photoshoots too.
I’ve been working on the books for over 6 months already, so I just have not had the time to blog and tweet as much as I used to. There is no exaggeration when I tell you I have worked 17 hours a day, 7 days a week for months on end now. So, my manuscript is in, and I’m giving myself a day off today. I need it. I am loving every step of the journey, but it is a very draining one at that. I feel tired, I feel fat (of course, I have to try everything I make) and unfit having missed so many spin classes whist I attend to various spanners being thrown into the works. But I do feel proud, especially when I hear that people love my recipes, and I watch friends and family share and enjoy what I’ve come up with. I’m also incredibly excited to see everything come together; the look, the branding and the photography.
I’m also grateful. My publishers are amazing and I’ve had an awful lot of help from friends and strangers along the way. And I know they will continue to help me over the coming months too. So, I just want to say thank you to every single person who’s helped me. It won’t be forgotten.
I think I am going to head down to West Dorset today for a walk along the coast to blow the cobwebs away.
